Character Motivation: Vasquez's willingness to join up for the cause is twofold, both selfish reasons. The first and foremost is the protection that Zhautas affords. With Rose Creek in his rearview mirror, Vasquez was looking at going back to a life of hiding if he stayed in the United States, but by volunteering his services, he can escape with his head intact and stay alive where a $500 bounty won't catch up to him. Secondly, because he's been in hiding so much, he's a little touch-starved and eager for the company of anyone, whether it's conversation or more. He would have happily signed up for the promise of safety, food, and the possibility of companionship which he hasn't safely had in a very long time.

History/Background: While the movie has a wiki, there is no entry for Vasquez.

Vasquez’s family hails from Mexico, where there were rooted for generations. Unfortunately, history and greedy hands meant that the border crossed their lands, rendering the Vasquez family “Texicans” to other Americans. His family fought against it, with Vasquez bearing great pride for his grandfathers’ feats in the Texas Revolution as one of the Toluca Battalion. After that battle, the climate wasn’t a warm one for men of his background and Vasquez had limited options as to what he could do with his life, especially when he lost the last of his family and he was left with nothing but his own two hands. He learned how to ranch, grew skilled with a lasso and guns, and tried to do his best to work for a country that wanted to hold themselves as better than a lowly vaquero like him.

Everything changed when Vasquez let pride and anger overwhelm him. Not all lawmen are paragons of goodness, which Vasquez discovered when he ran aground of a ranger in Texas that he clashed with. His decision to kill the man wasn’t without consequences. It didn’t matter if a ranger deserves to die or not, because in order to serve justice, a bounty comes about. After pulling the trigger, Vasquez now had to deal with a $500 bounty on his head. He took to hiding where he could, stealing what he needed, living with corpses and constantly running to avoid being found. Sam Chisholm found him despite his attempts to hide away and lured him into helping to save Rose Creek with the promise that if Vasquez did, then Sam wouldn’t be one of the warrant officers after him. Vasquez knew of Sam’s reputation and that the bargain was a good one, but also knew he had little else to do and threw his hat into the fight against Bart Bogue, another wicked man. While he didn’t necessarily get along with all of the Seven at the beginning, taking back Rose Creek from the Blackstones helped to develop a bond that continued as they prepared for the ultimate fight for the town.

Vasquez had nowhere else to be, but he also didn’t want to leave the town’s innocents to fight alone. Despite all the force that Bogue threw at them and the casualties the town suffered, Vasquez survived with only a shot to his arm from the Gatling gun, though he watched four of his brothers in arms fall. With Bogue defeated, Vasquez had held up his part of the bargain and knew that Sam wouldn’t turn him in. Unfortunately, Vasquez was still a wanted man and though he’d found a town of people that would have treated him as a hero for staying, $500 was still more than enough to motivate plenty of people to come looking for him. He had to keep moving, which meant leaving Rose Creek behind.

(Mod Note: These sections can be in bullet points or paragraph format but each trait shouldn't be more than 200 words.)
Noteworthy Positive Characteristics:

Loyalty - Even though there's not often reason for Vasquez to trust others, he's quick to loyalty when he meets people that fall into his circle and he approves of their values, personalities, and skills. Once he's decided that someone is his friend, he will fight for that cause and offer himself up for whatever might be needed, even going so far as to put his life on the line for a bounty hunter he's just met. Even though he had nowhere to be, he could have run, but he stuck it out for the people he'd just met to stay by their side.

Easygoing Humour - Vasquez can find himself amusement in pretty much any situation, seeing the light of a dark place. It's a little of gallows' humour, but it means that he can laugh easily and joke about the shitty life that he's found himself in, which will lend itself well as a volunteer of a madcap sex experiment.

Determination - In a persistent way, Vasquez is like a cockroach who's stubborn and determined to keep alive, no matter what it takes. He'll live with a corpse if it means hiding in plain sight. He'll take up a bounty hunter's suicide mission to avoid being turned in on the spot. He'll even make friends with a bunch of lowlives and assholes because they're the people who'll have his back. Vasquez will always take a situation and roll up his sleeves to figure out a determined way to make sure he can get out of it alive.

Aptitude With Physical Labour - Vasquez is far from a man with a stick up his ass and is willing to get his hands dirty and do the work needed. That lends him to be very resourceful when it comes to volunteering for physical labour or hard tasks, because he believes that if a job needs to be done, then no one should be above it, least of all him. It means that he's skilled and willing to work.

Noteworthy Negative Characteristics:

Self-Absorption - By far his biggest flaw, Vasquez is incredibly selfish and self-centred. When it comes to all things, his first thought is about protecting himself, which means that he tends to do things only if they mean that he'll somehow benefit. Even in relationships, he's never had something meaningful or real because he's never wanted to put anyone else first, which means that he's never been brave enough to try and be selfless.

Crudeness - While Vasquez might be easygoing, he tends to step over the line a little too easily. He insults people to make friends, he can be very crude with his sense of humour, and often says things that aren't generally polite in mixed company, sometimes lacking tact (like calling out a whole peoples' preference on how to bury their dead or talking about murderous grandfathers).

Short Tempered - He's a man short on patience, which means that he's quicker to get into a fight (also because he likes the fight), but when it comes to being offended or prodded, he's not the type of man to sit back and let things slide. He'll be the first one up to exchange blows if things get heated, because he doesn't really have the 'sit back and wait' calm, collected coolness that others do.

Character Fears: Vasquez is terrified of two things: 1) Getting caught and having to pay for killing the ranger and 2) Actually being responsible for someone or something, because that means he might eventually lose them
Powers/Abilities: n/a
Personal Item: Vasquez will be bringing Faraday's deck of singed cards with him.
