Backtagging: Absolutely good with that!
Threadhopping: Let me know and we can work it out, but I'm good with threadhopping.
Fourthwalling: If possible, avoiding this is best as he's from a time before media and wouldn't take kindly to being told he's not real or a character
Offensive subjects: More than good to roll with any of this, given that Vasquez borders on pretty offensive himself at times
IC
Hugging this character: He's touch-starved at the best of times. So long as you aren't using it to attack him, he's in.
Kissing this character: Same as above. He's got an oral fixation, so he can get a little aggressive, but he's there for it.
Flirting with this character: His default mode of flirting is the pigtail-pulling kind, but absolutely okay.
Fighting with this character: He also likes fighting as foreplay, so by all means, please.
Injuring this character: Absolutely good, so long as it isn't life-threatening. He's used to a pretty rough and tumble life.
Killing this character: To be avoided, because he has survived this long and has some deep-seated issues about dying.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Absolutely go for it!
Anything else: His first language is Spanish and he has a pretty deep addiction to nicotine, so that might come up.
Warnings: He's from the 1800's, so he can be pretty crass. As a result, his opinions are not always mine because he comes from an earlier time.

The Author & The Rancher
Dec. 21st, 2018 08:11 pmFor the twentieth time today, Ale curses his agent for sending him out into the wilderness because he's got writer's block. He never should have said anything, he should have kept quiet about all of this. Instead, he was the idiot who decided that he would share his inability to get through the chapters of his western romance and now he was being punished.
Well, he was being sent into the West to a ranch with all-expenses paid, but to him, that meant punishment. Adjusting his suitcase, he waddles his way up the front porch after the taxi had dropped him off, staring at the estate he's been sent to.
The Faraday Ranch.
Sam, that damn agent of his, had insisted that Joshua Faraday would help to unstick some of the writer's block that was keeping the chapter from moving forward. He'd seemed so very convinced, too, and it's not like Vasquez can argue that. Besides, none of his old tricks have been working and maybe seeing a real live cowboy will actually do some help. He reserves the right to be wary about that, though.
Dropping his bags at the door, he leans on the bell, feeling disheveled and exhausted from the plane ride and the long cab in. He probably looks a mess, but he doesn't care, because right now, all he cares about is getting inside and trading on the rancher's hospitality so he can put his feet up and worry about writing later.
Besides, how handsome can this one man be? Sam is probably just exaggerating again.

Dec. 7th, 2018 09:49 pmThis isn't exactly the trip to town that Vasquez had expected.
She'd thought she would come and see these people that Robert had to deal with. True, she didn't think she was going to like all of them, but she also didn't think that she would feel this much rage and fury when she saw how they treated him. They spoke down to him, they ignored him, and they laughed at him. Dressed in her pretty frock and her hair loose, she knows she's supposed to be demure, but it's a very good thing that they'd disarmed her before she got to town. If they hadn't, she'd be in the jail cell because she would have shot someone in her fury.
As it is, they're pulling her off of Doc Holliday, while Aleja spits furious Spanish invective at him, furious at the jokes they've been making on Robert's behalf. "He is twice the man that you will ever be," she finishes, spitting at his and Earp's feet, irritated on Robert's behalf.
Forcing her arm out of the hold, she sneers at the men holding her. "I'm going," she snaps, grabbing her thick fur coat and hauling it on, shoving hat on her head and thinking it's good she came here to see this. Because now, she's not letting Robert come even close to this place after everything that she's seen. She stands in the doorway and waits for him, because she's not leaving without him.
They're never coming back to this place and Aleja is already making plans to never let him work for these two men, not when he deserves so much more.

Characters currently in-game: Peggy Carter
Triggers/Fears/Squicks: Full on non-con, but that's about it
Character Motivation: Vasquez's willingness to join up for the cause is twofold, both selfish reasons. The first and foremost is the protection that Zhautas affords. With Rose Creek in his rearview mirror, Vasquez was looking at going back to a life of hiding if he stayed in the United States, but by volunteering his services, he can escape with his head intact and stay alive where a $500 bounty won't catch up to him. Secondly, because he's been in hiding so much, he's a little touch-starved and eager for the company of anyone, whether it's conversation or more. He would have happily signed up for the promise of safety, food, and the possibility of companionship which he hasn't safely had in a very long time.

Name: Vasquez
Age: 35
Physical Appearance: Vasquez's Current Appearance
Point in Timeline: Vasquez's last memory of home will be of riding away from Rose Creek with Sam and Red Harvest
World Description: See plot section for a description of the current state of Vasquez's world.
History/Background: While the movie has a wiki, there is no entry for Vasquez.
Vasquez’s family hails from Mexico, where there were rooted for generations. Unfortunately, history and greedy hands meant that the border crossed their lands, rendering the Vasquez family “Texicans” to other Americans. His family fought against it, with Vasquez bearing great pride for his grandfathers’ feats in the Texas Revolution as one of the Toluca Battalion. After that battle, the climate wasn’t a warm one for men of his background and Vasquez had limited options as to what he could do with his life, especially when he lost the last of his family and he was left with nothing but his own two hands. He learned how to ranch, grew skilled with a lasso and guns, and tried to do his best to work for a country that wanted to hold themselves as better than a lowly vaquero like him.
Everything changed when Vasquez let pride and anger overwhelm him. Not all lawmen are paragons of goodness, which Vasquez discovered when he ran aground of a ranger in Texas that he clashed with. His decision to kill the man wasn’t without consequences. It didn’t matter if a ranger deserves to die or not, because in order to serve justice, a bounty comes about. After pulling the trigger, Vasquez now had to deal with a $500 bounty on his head. He took to hiding where he could, stealing what he needed, living with corpses and constantly running to avoid being found. Sam Chisholm found him despite his attempts to hide away and lured him into helping to save Rose Creek with the promise that if Vasquez did, then Sam wouldn’t be one of the warrant officers after him. Vasquez knew of Sam’s reputation and that the bargain was a good one, but also knew he had little else to do and threw his hat into the fight against Bart Bogue, another wicked man. While he didn’t necessarily get along with all of the Seven at the beginning, taking back Rose Creek from the Blackstones helped to develop a bond that continued as they prepared for the ultimate fight for the town.
Vasquez had nowhere else to be, but he also didn’t want to leave the town’s innocents to fight alone. Despite all the force that Bogue threw at them and the casualties the town suffered, Vasquez survived with only a shot to his arm from the Gatling gun, though he watched four of his brothers in arms fall. With Bogue defeated, Vasquez had held up his part of the bargain and knew that Sam wouldn’t turn him in. Unfortunately, Vasquez was still a wanted man and though he’d found a town of people that would have treated him as a hero for staying, $500 was still more than enough to motivate plenty of people to come looking for him. He had to keep moving, which meant leaving Rose Creek behind.
(Mod Note: These sections can be in bullet points or paragraph format but each trait shouldn't be more than 200 words.)
Noteworthy Positive Characteristics:
Loyalty - Even though there's not often reason for Vasquez to trust others, he's quick to loyalty when he meets people that fall into his circle and he approves of their values, personalities, and skills. Once he's decided that someone is his friend, he will fight for that cause and offer himself up for whatever might be needed, even going so far as to put his life on the line for a bounty hunter he's just met. Even though he had nowhere to be, he could have run, but he stuck it out for the people he'd just met to stay by their side.
Easygoing Humour - Vasquez can find himself amusement in pretty much any situation, seeing the light of a dark place. It's a little of gallows' humour, but it means that he can laugh easily and joke about the shitty life that he's found himself in, which will lend itself well as a volunteer of a madcap sex experiment.
Determination - In a persistent way, Vasquez is like a cockroach who's stubborn and determined to keep alive, no matter what it takes. He'll live with a corpse if it means hiding in plain sight. He'll take up a bounty hunter's suicide mission to avoid being turned in on the spot. He'll even make friends with a bunch of lowlives and assholes because they're the people who'll have his back. Vasquez will always take a situation and roll up his sleeves to figure out a determined way to make sure he can get out of it alive.
Aptitude With Physical Labour - Vasquez is far from a man with a stick up his ass and is willing to get his hands dirty and do the work needed. That lends him to be very resourceful when it comes to volunteering for physical labour or hard tasks, because he believes that if a job needs to be done, then no one should be above it, least of all him. It means that he's skilled and willing to work.
Noteworthy Negative Characteristics:
Self-Absorption - By far his biggest flaw, Vasquez is incredibly selfish and self-centred. When it comes to all things, his first thought is about protecting himself, which means that he tends to do things only if they mean that he'll somehow benefit. Even in relationships, he's never had something meaningful or real because he's never wanted to put anyone else first, which means that he's never been brave enough to try and be selfless.
Crudeness - While Vasquez might be easygoing, he tends to step over the line a little too easily. He insults people to make friends, he can be very crude with his sense of humour, and often says things that aren't generally polite in mixed company, sometimes lacking tact (like calling out a whole peoples' preference on how to bury their dead or talking about murderous grandfathers).
Short Tempered - He's a man short on patience, which means that he's quicker to get into a fight (also because he likes the fight), but when it comes to being offended or prodded, he's not the type of man to sit back and let things slide. He'll be the first one up to exchange blows if things get heated, because he doesn't really have the 'sit back and wait' calm, collected coolness that others do.
Character Fears: Vasquez is terrified of two things: 1) Getting caught and having to pay for killing the ranger and 2) Actually being responsible for someone or something, because that means he might eventually lose them
Powers/Abilities: n/a
Personal Item: Vasquez will be bringing Faraday's deck of singed cards with him.

If there's one thing that Vasquez had done quickly in Darrow, it had been to find a good bar with a decent bartender. He has one now, with two of the bartenders that he's fucked at some point, but has kept up a good relationship with. It's become his favorite place to be, but he also thinks it's good because it's quieter than some of the clubs.
Not only that, but he knows Billy and Goodnight will drink here, so every once in a while, he also gets to see his friends. It's strange for him, because he's grown to appreciate them so much more than he ever thought he would, but then, he also thought they were dead.
Tonight, he raises a glass when he sees Goodnight at the door, ordering his usual when the bartender comes back around, so that when Goodnight joins him at the booth in the back (the one where the seats face the door), there's something waiting for him. "Billy working?"

Canon: Magnificent 7
Scrubs Color: Red
Visible Age: 35
Gender: Male
Height: 6'4
Physique: Beanpole lanky lean, slightly underfed from being in a mild starvation state for several months
Complexion: Tanned
Hygiene: By virtue of hiding out with corpses and not having ready access to hot water means that Vasquez can sometimes go a while forgetting to bathe, but once it's available, he's vain enough that he wants to stay clean and with a water source, he'll keep tidy and neat.
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Defining Marks: Bullet wound scar in his left shoulder
Accent/Speech: Vasquez's first language is Spanish, so he has very heavily accented English, as seen here. You can still understand him, but it's clear English is not his first language.
Bearing/Demeanor: Vasquez walks with confidence and moves with a grace of knowing his body, even if he is 6'4 of mainly limbs. He's dangerous, though, and recently, he's been on the run, so his behaviour can be skittish and a touch wary, coiled up and ready to spring. It's lessened in his time in Cadelle, but it's still there.
Gait: Long strides, confident movements, an ease of lazing when required
Habits: He will be smoking all the fucking time. No matter where you are seeing him, he's either just finishing a smoke, in the middle of one, or starting one.
Skills: Excellent with a lasso and a set of guns, not bad with woodworking and animals, and a human food-eating machine.

May. 23rd, 2018 08:07 pmIf you'd asked him why he'd decided to sneak onto Quill's ship and take one of the trinkets lining up the dashboard, Vasquez would be hard-pressed to give any answer outside of, 'because people said it couldn't be done', and maybe he's been an outlaw and a thief long enough to want to prove people wrong. Maybe, also, he's got a bit of a respectable admiration for the things he's heard Quill is responsible for and so getting his hands on something of his had been a goal of his.
Lucky for him, the in and out of the ship is a quick thing, and Vasquez pockets the little trinket with no one the wiser, having to convince himself not to take anything else while he's there. Whatever admiration he has for Quill (and there's reasons he swears he can't put his finger on, but they're there), he can't be too obvious. So he pockets the trinket and he moves on to the next solar system.
Vasquez finds himself the dirtiest, most awful bar, where no one will care about an outlaw drinking amongst them because they're just as crooked. Only when he's deep in his cups does he pull out the strange little trinket, an old-world Earthen cowboy figurine that he's been drawn to. Maybe it's because Vasquez likes the fashion and tries to emulate it.
Maybe it's because he has dreams about the West.
Or maybe it's just because it'd been the first thing he saw. No matter, all that he cares about now is the fact that he's gotten away with it (or so he thinks, but right now, at this point, with a little more ale burning his throat, he hasn't got any reason to think he's a failure).
That time? It will come later.

Feb. 10th, 2018 08:52 pmThere's been something strange happening in the barn the last few days that he can't exactly put his finger on. When he goes in the morning, things are in places he didn't leave them and he's sure that the animals are more unsettled than before. It's not enough for Vasquez to go to the owners about, because while they pay him to operate the farm and work the land, they also don't want to be bothered until he's sure and right now, he's not.
After all, it could just be some wild animal getting loose into the barn at night. He sets up a plan, though, and makes sure that instead of falling asleep with a cigarette and a stomach warmed through with alcohol, he's staying up in order to be in the barn near midnight to see what it is that's causing such a change in things. He's hoping that he's not going to find anything, if he's honest, but there's just too many small things to have nothing be at work.
Cautiously, he approaches the barn (not wearing his spurs, not tonight), and gives the door a gentle nudge. It's quiet, so if it is a wild animal, it hasn't spooked the creatures. If it's a person...well, in that case, Vasquez has to be extra careful, but he needs to resolve this before the owners start to notice and they start to blame Vasquez for doing a poor job.

Darrow - Sweeney | Powers
Dec. 31st, 2017 08:51 pmIt's been happening for three days since New Years'. He can summon up water and fire, the earth and the air, controlling them to his whims. Only, every time that he does that, he starts to get dizzy and the headaches press in. He's been using his matches and lighter to start a fire, then controlling the flames until they start to dwindle and the blood starts to pour from his nose.
Every time he looks in the mirror, too, he sees the black eye staring back at him. He should want answers, he should want to learn how to control it, but all that he actually wants is to run away from it. It's a bad habit for him, unfortunately, it's one that he doesn't want to break. That's why he sends Sweeney a text to meet him at Vasquez's apartment and to bring as much alcohol as he can.
He probably shouldn't be drinking, not with the blood he steadily loses, but again, running from his problems somehow seems like the better idea than actually facing that he has strange magic powers suddenly and that he can't seem to control without becoming weak and sick like he only is when he's beyond drunk and sick. Grabbing yet another linen handkerchief to press to his nose, he digs out his matches to light up a new cigarette, cursing when the flame goes wildly out of control and reduces the cigarette to ashes.
"Puta madre," he hisses, and what's worse is that the sudden flare of his newfound strength only makes his head pulse worse. He makes it to unlock the door and then staggers back to collapse in one of his very comfortable chairs, grabbing his hat so he can cover his eyes, the light making it hurt.

Darrow - Sexswitch for Sweeney
Nov. 23rd, 2017 12:08 pmThere's room on the bed when he wakes up.
When Sweeney stays over, there's never room. Someone's elbows are pressed in awkward places, knees are shoved in and usually they have to stack in order to make sure that no one falls off. This morning, when he wakes, there's still a long line of warmth beside him, but Vasquez isn't half falling off the bed (barely), and his toes aren't dangling off (though still near the end). When he rouses, hair is in his face. His hair. Well, if he can call it that, because it's frizzy and the right curl and colour, but it's longer than it should be, not to mention there are things missing on his body that shouldn't be.
Panic swarms Vasquez as he sits bolt upright, patting his bare body down and growling under his breath to see what's happened. It's some form of strange magic, a wicked tease, and glaring down at the leprechaun currently in his bed, Vasquez doesn't think that it's a long stretch to figure out who could be responsible. Shifting his weight until he can kneel above Sweeney, he doesn't bother going light as he backhands him with a slap to his face, following up with a heated one to his chest.
"Puta madre, pinche cabron," he hisses, voice growled and low so he doesn't have to hear the tonal changes that he can't ignore. "What did you do?" he demands heatedly. "I keep your beer out," he gripes, hating how much he sounds like one of his sisters, "I make your offerings, is this funny?" he demands, shoving at his shoulder to wake him past any lingering sleep. "I promise I can make it very unfunny for you."

Darrow - Goodnight @ Bar
Nov. 5th, 2017 09:50 pmIt's becoming a habit to go to a bar when the day is done. Vasquez has a somewhat regular job now on weekdays, between the gun range and then the odd jobs he picks up in the fields. It affords him the money to spend on liquor and fine clothes and cigarettes, playing to all of his vices. He's been learning about the future, too, and he's starting to get better at it. Not perfect, but better. When he comes into the bar for a drink (maybe hoping to see a familiar face), he does end up finding that.
It's not the one he expects, but he still finds one. Vasquez tempers his disappointment, because Goodnight is still a decent man to drink with and he's becoming closer with him and Billy both (Billy is being helpful teaching him knives, there's no closer you can get than a man teaching you how to kill). He slides into the seat beside him and raises a hand to the bartender, then gestures to Goodnight. "Another for him, and one for me of whatever he's drinking," he says, giving Goodnight a nod of greeting as he settles into the seat beside him.
He's wearing modern clothes, but one of the pair of jeans Sweeney had picked out for him and one of the cardigans he'd found for himself, over a plain t-shirt. He's starting to enjoy those, sadly, maybe because of how comfortable they always are and look. "Where's your deadly half?"

Darrow - Sweeney @ Bar
Oct. 4th, 2017 08:57 amTexts and phones, along with the technology, are something that Vasquez still isn't entirely sure about but he still knows enough how to give his number, and to receive things on it. When he gets the message from Sweeney, deliberately saying 'cowboy', he swears under his breath in Spanish, but there's definitely delight in it. It's easy enough to arrange the drink and even better that he's convinced Goodnight to take him shopping so he can look more modern.
The shirt being ripped is not something he wanted to go with. He's still getting used to things like jeans and sweaters, but they still allow him to clip his gun belt and lasso to the jeans, still let him wear his boots and spurs, and he's still got his hat and smokes, as well as a flask. With that set, he heads to the bar where he first took Sweeney after the shot. It's been enough time that he thinks that maybe he's healed enough, but maybe not enough that he's healed completely.
Even Vasquez still feels his gunshot wound aching sometimes, but pain isn't always a bad thing after all, isn't that what he'd said? Heading into the bar, he sets his hat in the corner and pre-emptively orders them two bottles of whiskey and tequila, expecting that they will very much need it.

When Vasquez's shirt rips at the seams on his third attempt to wash it, he decides this is a sign from God that he can't keep washing and wearing the same clothes just because of how strong his nostalgia is. He's got money and he needs new clothes. The thought of charging into one of the many stores makes him scowl and very unhappy, which means that he needs help. Better, he needs help from someone who understands exactly what he's going through.
He manages to stitch his shirt back together enough that it's wearable (it's still bloodstained, so maybe it's not in such good taste) and heads for where Goodnight and Billy live after sending a warning message that he's coming (with plenty of typos, because he's not used to it yet). He hates this idea of becoming some modern looking ass like the rest of the men here, but there seem to be enough flashy sets of things he likes in passing that he wouldn't mind, like the vests knit of fabric and shirts like his linen ones.
It's time for Vasquez to face the future, but not without some help. He texts Goodnight that he's there, outside, and then, he lights up a smoke because he already knows that no one else will let him do this once he's in public. What a stupid future, really, that won't let you do such things.
