It's sweet and exciting, and he's loving this. Loving that she trusts him enough to share this with him, and that she brought him such pleasure.
So when she moves, he doesn't tense as he might have before, used to doing something wrong, of making a mistake. Frowning as she takes the ring off, and yet as his fingers close over it, he realizes this time he's more than willing to let her do it, to take it back. And so he holds it tight in his hand, knowing one day that he will want to give it back to her.
And in that moment the things they've talked about, the starts of fights, and the times in town, and all of it comes together in that moment making him realize that he honestly and truly has this. He has a chance at something special, something that he never had before and never thought he could have.
"I will need them one day," he says with a nod, leaning in to kiss her tenderly. "I promise you," he says, though he wonders if it's more a warning. "I will need it one day."
