Bring good food, better tequila, and an open mind about who you're dealing with and we'll get along just fine. Any kind of company welcome, but I don't trust easy.

Fancy seeing what tequilas we can find here?
( Like you haven't already been doing that, Kate. )

Date: 2017-09-11 12:07 am (UTC)Good. Meet me outside here.
( The message is accompanied by directions to her building, as an easy meeting point. )

Date: 2017-09-11 12:48 am (UTC)[ That said, he's still not so sure about this place. After all, wishes? The only wish that he's had is to go from being a wanted man to someone with freedom, but that doesn't take away the fact that he's still only ever wanting to be responsible for himself. On the other hand? Tequila. He dons his hat, vest, and boots and heads to the spot she's told him to go.
He's getting better at this technology thing every day. It's not hard to find her once he arrives, raising both brows expectantly, his thumbs looped in his belt]
Lead the way to the tequila.

Date: 2017-09-11 09:30 pm (UTC)The things she asked for are beyond even Superhumans, after all. And she needs them.
But, for now, all she needs is a few drinks and some people in her life that'll help get her the energy for that wish she made. So she wraps a hoodie around her waist and makes her way down to the entrance of her building, leaning against the wall as she waits. )
C'mon, then.
( It's good to have people who appreciate a drink. This place is so bloody normal that she's not sure what to do with it sometimes, just drink and try to get through a new job and the day. )
What else d'ya drink?
( But, while they're making their way to the first bar, she may as well ask questions. )

Date: 2017-09-13 01:23 am (UTC)Tequila. Whiskey. If there's beer in town, I don't mind it, but it's hard to come by. Spirits are easier. You?

Date: 2017-09-13 08:33 pm (UTC)She wonders, briefly, what that'll mean for her when she goes back. If she gets too used to a world that's this... peaceful. (Glossy. Far too glossy.)
She pushes the door to the bar open and finds a couple of seats at the bar, gesturing to the bartender for a couple of shots of a tequila she spots hanging around the back of it/ )
Beer, usually. Don't mind a good cider. ( Or a bad one. Strongbow is a rite of passage, truly. ) Long as I'm not doin' shots of vodka.
( One vodka-shot hangover is enough to put anyone off the shit for life, let's be honest. )

Date: 2017-09-15 08:15 pm (UTC)[ It's an easy enough liquor to make, admittedly, but Vasquez has also gone long stretches without anything at all to drink because the city or town or hovel that he'd been in had been out. ]
Moonshine, now that's easiest. Do they serve that here?
[ He's rather whiskey or tequila, but the truth is that maybe his tongue has developed a mild taste for some moonshine because of how strong it is and how quickly it gets the job done. Right now, he's drinking to drink, but a glass of the clear stuff would get him relaxed, very quick. ]

Date: 2017-09-15 09:45 pm (UTC)Well. Maybe not die, but god only knows work would have been a lot more intolerable if there weren't places to drink it off. )
Never asked. Probably.
( Cadelle's thing seems to be about providing a perfect place, so why wouldn't they offer that too? All the variety anyone could ask for. But for now, their shots come, served with the customary lime and salt, and Kate nods to the bartender in thanks before reaching for the latter. )
What were up by th' plains?
( Call her curious. )

Date: 2017-09-16 07:11 pm (UTC)[ Then you kill one asshole and your whole life changes. He could've just sat back and ignored it, let him do what he wanted, but Vasquez has never been good with impulse control sometimes. He's better now, though, especially once he knows what the consequences are. ]
Limes? Why limes?
[ Is there a problem with fruit here? Why else would they have been served drinks with citrus? ]

Date: 2017-09-17 09:16 pm (UTC)(There's always that one asshole who ruins your life, isn't there?)
Then he questions the limes and Kate blinks, slightly taken aback. It's so commonplace she never thought to question it. Just how things were done. )
... Makes it taste better, I guess?
( She's sure there's some other reason, some real reason, but she doesn't know it. )
Always forget about them after a few.
( Forgets about the salt, too. But this is the first one of the night, and so Kate pours out the salt and licks it off the back of her hand before downing the tequila and biting into a slice of lime.
Yeesh. She swears the lime's the worst part, the citric bite making her screw her face up in response. )

Date: 2017-09-19 12:05 am (UTC)[The point is drinking enough so that everything bad in your life starts to fade away and the only thing you have to think about is the warm, wonderful, fuzzy feeling that lasts until it all goes away and the next morning is hell on earth. But, for those few hours when you're enjoying it, there's nothing better. The worse it tastes, the better it works, in his opinion. ]
What are you doing, what is that, why are you licking salt off yourself?
[ It's official. He thinks he hates drinking in the future. Knocking back his tequila without any salt or lime, he doesn't grimace at all, just wishing he had a bottle to nurse. ]

Date: 2017-09-27 09:55 pm (UTC)What's th' harm in letting it taste better?
( Honestly. It's a weird thing and Kate would love to know who thought that this process was The Way, but it seems to work for easing into the night.
(Or maybe that's just a placebo effect, who can really tell? Definitely not Kate.)
She watches Vasquez finish his shot off without anything, before doing hers in the ~technical way people say is correct and slamming the lime skin down once she's finished. )
No idea. Just what people said were correct.
( Habit, this early in the night, more than anything. )

Date: 2017-09-30 10:55 pm (UTC)[He drinks when he needs to, drinks when his state is compromised, which means that he only did it when he could be protected, but that some nights were so hard that it had been impossible not to. He glances over to see if he can't get tequila in an actual glass to work at, trying to narrow down the bartender]
Dios mio. Salt is for food, for spices. It's not to make a good drink somehow tolerable, when it is already plenty good.

Date: 2017-10-05 04:56 pm (UTC)( Just saying. Even she's had more than a few mornings of waking up thinking I'm never drinking again. Fair enough that doesn't usually last, but still. It's a nice deterrent for a while.
At least with the bartender coming over, Kate can gesture for another shot for herself. )

Date: 2017-10-06 01:27 pm (UTC)[ In his experience, it's part of the best part of drinking. In the morning after, it gives him enough chance to actually know how much he'd drank and to enjoy it all one more time. The worse the hangover, the better the night before had been. ]
Is this what all modern drinks are like?

Date: 2017-10-07 12:44 am (UTC)All this crap?
( She even holds up the lime skin she discarded earlier to make sure they're on the same page as the bartender returns with more drinks. )
Nah. No one does this for vodka.
( God only knows why, vodka tastes like shit. A lime slice might help it. )

Date: 2017-10-07 08:20 pm (UTC)What about a good glass of whiskey? Rum? Are all those things ruined now too? Alcohol should just be for drinking.
[He doesn't care what's in the drink or what it tastes like, but it's the pageantry he hates. It's too much for him, all this idea about needing limes and salt and process when it should be so simple as drinking.]

Date: 2017-10-13 07:27 pm (UTC)( Kate's never thought about the fact that people in her day and age do so much with alcohol. Cocktails, mixers, pomp and circumstance. She takes the salt and lime without thinking until she's too drunk to coordinate extra steps into her drinking. It's just how it is. )
Wait. You drink cocktails?
( Is that too much or...? )

Date: 2017-10-15 01:27 am (UTC)[He's not really picky, honestly, and if someone puts it in front of him, then he'll drink it. Half the time in a small town when he'd been on the run, he'd accepted whatever a bartender gave him, so this 'cocktail' thing she speaks of, maybe he has tried it.]
Is a cocktail any good?
